Why Intelligent People Fail

1. Lack of motivation. A talent is irrelevant if a person is not motivated to use it. Motivation may be external (for example, social approval) or internal (satisfaction from a job well-done, for instance). External sources tend to be transient, while internal sources tend to produce more consistent performance.

So true! It reminds me of the quote genius is one percent inspiration and 99 percent perspiration……..no substitute for putting the work in.

Hi Kate! Kind of reminds me of another quote: “Entrepreneurship is 99% hustle and 1% good ideas.”

Thanks for the visit and for the comment :-)

    Hi Ricardo,
Yup, we need to be motivated from the inside – not our peers in order to accomplish great things, otherwise our enthusiasm will eventually wane and we'll give up.

Angela: I totally agree that motivation from the inside counts for so, so much!! Having people in your corner that support you is nice too, but ultimately, you should be motivating yourself to accomplish great things.

Thanks for the visit and for the comment!

    Hi Ricardo
    Short, sweet and so right.
I'm writing this comment in between sets of squats.
They hurt like hell… but I'm determined to do three sets.
No need to be a genius to grit your teeth, ignore the pain and see the job through.

The full article is linked above. This was my favorite of all the quotes however. Cheers to a good Tuesday and good week for you Keith! As always, thanks for the comment. I'm off to finish my set of push-ups, heh :-P

Lack of motivation does kill me from time to time – I think I'm doing better with it these days though! I try to get myself going by thinking about what would happen if I don't get going – i.e. I won't get to where I want.

Most guys think that if they are smart in their academic results or what they achieve in their careers, they are good with women. But unfortunately, these smart minds of theirs can actually be useless when it comes to dating women .
