Has this ever happened to you before? You’ve thought of starting a new blog, but you haven’t really gotten around to it. Instead, you’re focused on absorbing all of the information that you can before you start – hosting, domain names, platforms, etc.
Some people will go months researching information and will never get started.
I see it happen all the time.
People tell me that their “thinking” about starting a new blog, only, they never really get around to it. We have a natural tendency to place too much attention on information, even when it’s barely relevant.
People often think, “the more information I gather, the better.”
The line of thinking is, the more information you consume, the more certain you are to be making the right decision.
The problem is, often-times, seeking all of that extra information just winds up being nothing more than a waste of time and money. Time passes, and the only thing you’ve managed to do is get overwhelmed with the onslaught of information. This called information-binge bias.
Curiosity, self-doubt, mis-information… All of those things lead us into information binges.
Yes, I know you want to gather as much information as possible to make the right decision. But think of this another way, when you confront the brain with too much information, the quality of your decisions tends to decline.
Focus instead on just getting started… You already know more than you need to.
