Most Marketing Is Unremarkable

Seth Godin says “most marketing is un-remarkable.” I have to agree. I can’t begin to tell you how many times I have to click on the un-subscribe button from someone’s email marketing newsletter. One that I didn’t ask to be subscribed to in the first place. That’s not how you get someone’s attention. At least not in the way that you want. What this is, is annoying.

Give me an incentive to subscribe. Be an authority (in your niche) and make me want to subscribe. Offer me something relevant and of value not something off-topic that I never asked to be a part of in the first place. Quit being annoying. Instead, find ways to be interesting and remarkable. That’ll get my attention and earn a subscription from me.
