The awkward introductory post!

Well, this is a first for me so naturally, it’s a little bit awkward. Nevertheless, here we go!

I’ll be writing my first book over the course of the next couple of weeks/months. It’ll be a culmination of advice and observations gathered through my various experiences in speaking, teaching, reading & learning, working with clients and direct day-to-day applications of what it’s like to use social media for business. I’ve spoken at dozens of events. Coached dozens of clients. And the question(s) is almost always invariably the same: how do I get started in social media? What do I do first? How long does this take? Is it effective? I’ve created my profiles on various social networks, now what?

I’ll be using this space (this blog) to capture interviews from the trenches, share stories and case studies, ask for and offer advice and run the occasional experiment or two. The goal is to get the book out by Fall of 2010. If all goes well, and with a little help from you, my friends and supporters, we’ll get there.

There, first awkward (and hopefully the only) post outta the way now. Moving along…
